Primary Teachers A primary school teacher is responsible for teaching all the subjects of the National Curriculum to his or her class. Teachers usually prefer to work in either Key Stage One (age from 5-7) or Key Stage 2 (7-11). If you have experience of younger children you may wish to work in the Foundation Stage. This is usually in either a Nursery Class attached to a Primary School or an Early Years Unit.
A good primary teacher will carefully plan his or her lesson and deliver the lesson with briskness and enthusiasm. To accomplish this you should have a working knowledge of the National Curriculum.
Teaching Assistants Teaching Assistants support teachers within a classroom setting. Their main activity is interacting with the pupils assigned to them by the classroom teacher. They will be involved in supporting the literacy hour and the numeracy strategy and will also carry out numerous other tasks given to them by the teacher.
Special Needs Work in Special Educational Needs will either be in mainstream schools or special schools with pupils who have a wide range of learning and behavioural difficulties. You will find children with

The work is this field is both rewarding and challenging. You do not have to be specially trained in special needs but an interest or experience is essential.
Special Needs Assistants Special Needs Assistants are usually assigned to a specific pupil who has special needs. They are also termed a Learning Support Assistant
Secondary Teachers Teaching a specific subject in which you are well qualified is rewarding. The interweaving of your subject knowledge with the requirements of the National Curriculum is a challenge.
A good secondary teacher will have excellent subject knowledge, carefully plan his or her lesson and deliver the lesson with briskness and enthusiasm. To accomplish this you need to be confident of the place of your subject within the National Curriculum.
