Requirements for teaching
a) Qualifications required To teach in the UK you need a teaching qualification. Wherever you are from you must be qualified in your country of origin. You need to be flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic and have excellent written and spoken English. Although a degree may be acceptable, most schools require that teachers have a post-graduate qualification in education. Supply staff with teaching experience are better placed than those who are just qualified. To work as a teaching assistant in the UK you don't need any formal qualifications but you need to have had experience working with children in a professional setting. e.g. Nursery school, working with special needs children.
b) Visa requirements - overseas candidates To teach in the UK you will need a working holiday Visa, EU Passport or an Ancestry Visa. If you don't have a work permit we may be able to assist you by organising a school to sponsor you. Further visa information for teachers.
